However\, race entries and spectator interest had declined in recent years. It was time to create a new and improved Rose Cup. \nWhile the Rose Cup Races will remain a Portland Rose Festival Foundation sanctioned event\, full operational control has been transferred to FOPIR. The goal is to bring the event back to its traditional glory. We have great ideas about how to rekindle enthusiasm\, and we are very motivated to create an exciting new era of Rose Cup Races. We know the success of the Rose Cup Races is very important for both the local motorsports community and Portland International Raceway (PIR). \nYour BMW CCA Oregon Chapter is proud and excited to be participating in this year’s new Rose Cup Races. For the past six years we have maintained a BMW corral which is located alongside the front straightaway with other featured car clubs. This year will be no different. Please join us for a show of great BMWs and enjoy a weekend of watching some very exciting road racing. \nThe lineup of races includes: \n\nThe Rose Cup Race – Big Bore cars\nSpec Racer Ford\nSpec Miata\nPro3 BMW\nGreat American Stockcar Series – GASS\nVintage\nSmall Bore cars\n\nThe Pro3 BMW spec racing group is made up of E30 BMWs. These are 325i BMWs produced from 1985-1991. These cars have been race prepared to drive fast and are very competitive. There will be at least 25 E30s in this race. If you have never seen these cars race you will not want to miss it this year. Check the Rose Cup website for the race time schedules as we get closer to the race weekend. \nThe Car Corral ticket package is $35 and includes admission for two individuals and one car (in the BMW corral).\nThe car corrals are Saturday and Sunday only\, but your tickets also grant admission on Friday. \nThe three day race weekend will include: \n\nFriday SCCA Track Night in America where non-racers can drive their cars at speed in a more controlled environment.\nSaturday Night Drags\nSaturday night Cruise-in with live music and good fun\nSpectator rides in race and exotic cars\nThe FroYo 5k run\n\nTo purchase tickets for the Car Corral or a daily pass please go directly to Ticket Tomato. \nWe hope to see a large group of BMWs to support this legendary race weekend. \nSee you there. \nBruce Feller\nBMW CCA Board Member\nPast President

SUMMARY:Maryhill Loops Rally
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our 6th Annual Maryhill Loops Rally! \nEach day will accommodate approximately 20 drivers and will cost $75\, which includes a lunch. \n \n REGISTER NOW\n \n \n \n Registrants are initially limited to choosing either Saturday or Sunday\, but may have the opportunity to register for both if space is still available one week prior to the event. \nThe Maryhill Loops Road is a few mile long private historic road that gains 850 feet elevation at an average grade of 5% with 25 turns\, including 8 hairpins. \n \n  \nCars are divided into groups of ten (two groups per day). Each car goes uphill only after the previous car passes the halfway mark. All cars drive downhill in a slow convoy. Special arrangements may be made for photo/video chase vehicles\, but only after participants have had their fun. \nParticipants can register for Saturday or Sunday.  We also have plenty of opportunities to volunteer for this event\, including staffing checkpoints along the road\, helping with lunch\, preparing the course\, and cleaning up at the end of the event. \nThe rally starts each morning with a photo session at the Stonehenge War Memorial around 8 AM. \nMaryhill Loops Road is located in a desolate\, wind-swept area with no restaurants\, no facilities (porta-potty available)\, and few shade trees. Bring shade tents (the club will have a couple)\, sunblock\, and lots of food and water. The club will host a Subway Giant Sub\, chips\, cookies\, and some beverages\, but please be prepared with your own snacks as well. \nLastly\, the club will organize a no-host dinner on Saturday night at the Clock Tower Ales Restaurant and Brew Pub in The Dalles\, OR.  We will have a private room and please bring cash as we will need to pay as a group on a single tab. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n FAQ\nQ. Are non-BMW cars allowed at this event?\nA. Yes! Only requirement is you must be a current BMW CCA member. \nQ. How many times can you drive up in a day?\nA. We’ve never actually kept track of that\, but you probably get a run about every 45 minutes. Time flies throughout the day and you definitely get your share of turns. Often towards the end of the day we have fewer drivers going up\, which then gives you the chance to do back-to-back runs or at the very least quicker turnaround times between the groups.
