SUMMARY:Oregon Festival of Cars
DESCRIPTION:BMW CCA Chapter members\, you are invited to attend the premier car enthusiast event in the Pacific NW: The Oregon Festival of Cars in Bend\, OR.  This year is the Oregon Festival of Cars 20th Anniversary and it is going to be a very special event. \nA special year requires a special theme\, one that applies to everyone and to every marque. This year’s theme is The Need For Speed. Yes\, we’re going to focus on one of the most obvious common denominators that unites all of us. We will have our share of super fast cars – Ferraris\, Porsches\, Lamborghinis\, Corvettes\, modified cars\, race cars\, and all the usual suspects — but they won’t be the only stars. We’re hoping to display all sorts of cars that are more subtle\, that take a perfectly normal car and give it some tweaks with no purpose other than generating more speed. Anything to shave a few tenths of a second off your times\, and to make driving just that much more fun.  If you’re not sure what we mean\, take a couple of minutes to read Paul Duchene’s brilliant essay about The Need For Speed here (pdf). \nAll members can display their cars in the Saturday car show.  We will select a few cars from our group to display in the featured car section\, ones that highlight BMW’s reputation for speed and performance.  The owners of each car will give a presentation explaining why their cars epitomize the Need for Speed theme. \nFriday Touring Event:  If you choose\, you can attend a touring event over the mountains towards Bend that starts at Ron Tonkin Gran Turismo in Wilsonville.  Friday night\, attend the registration reception and enjoy food and drinks at Mt. Bachelor Village. \nSaturday Event: We are once again having our car show at the beautiful Broken Top Club driving range\, one of the prettiest car show locations around.  You will park your car on the driving range along with many other performance cars.  What a feeling it is to be part of a group of car owners where thousands of spectators will come by and admire your BMW and ask questions.  If this is the first time you have attended the Festival\, you’re going to love it! \nThe Festival Banquet:  The Saturday Banquet will be held at Broken Top Club in a beautiful building with wonderful food! Seating is limited to a cozy 135 people\, so register early! \nThe Sunday Festival Brunch:  We will wrap up the event with our grand finale Festival Brunch at 11:00 am on Sunday\, to be held at Mt. Bachelor Village. We think this will be the perfect opportunity for a final gathering before everyone heads home looking forward to the 2016 Festival. Before the Festival Brunch\, we will start the Sunday Dash touring event at 8:30am\, returning in plenty of time for the Brunch.  The tour around the back roads of Bend is so fun as you will join your friends who drive many different types of special cars.  You may find yourself behind a gull-wing coupe\, or in front of a classic XK-E. \n  \nRegistration is open now.\nFor more information (including pictures from past events) and to register\, go to Oregon Festival of Cars. \nIf you have any questions\, contact your chapter founder and first president\, Brian Cone\, who is also a board member of the Oregon Festival of Cars.  See you there!

SUMMARY:SIG Cars & Coffee and Garage Tour September
DESCRIPTION:Join the SIG (Special Interest Group) for some Cars & Coffee (Cascade) then a unique “Garage Tour.” \nWhat is a Garage Tour? It’s a new SIG event that we think will be a lot of fun. Here is the concept. We all like to hang out in garages to look at cars\, car parts\, projects in progress\, tools\, memorabilia\, etc. I think this is especially true of the SIG members because it takes a bit of work to keep our cars on the road. This is an opportunity for us to get together in the garages that our members spend a lot of time in. \nOur next Garage Tour will by hosted by Dave MacIntyre and David Hows. We will meet up at Cascade Cars & Coffee at Cascade Station (by the airport)\, then drive out to the garages. Both garages are in Camas\, WA. We can choose between the short drive from the first garage to the second\, or take the longer more scenic route. Directions and maps will be available at C&C. \n \n  \nSchedule:   \n9:00 AM     Meet at Cascade Station C&C\n9:45 AM     Dave MacIntyre’s garage (coffee and donuts)\n11:00 AM   David Hows’ garage (lunch)
