SUMMARY:Heroes of Bavaria Winter Party
DESCRIPTION:The BMWCCA Puget Sound Chapter has invited Oregon Chapter members to attend their very special event: The Heroes of Bavaria at LeMay\, America’s Car Museum in Tacoma\, Washington. \nThis event occurred on the East Coast and\, thanks to Peter Gleeson\, was recreated on the West Coast at LeMay. The Heroes of Bavaria event is a display of 17 important BMW race cars from the 1930s to the 2010s. Peter will walk us thru the exhibit and give speeches at each car describing its history and importance. Examples include: \n\n1961 700 RS: This rare car\, chassis #1 of 2 built\, was raced by Hans Stuck\, Sr. when new. It is part of Rey Rivera’s extensive BMW collection.\n1972 3.0 CSL Group 2 Rally: This CSL had been hidden in the U.S. for decades but it took noted collector Peter Gleeson to figure out that this is the only factory rally CSL ever built. Gleeson has had the car restored by his friend Alex Elliott in the UK back to its original 1972 Rally livery.\n1981 March M1/C: This is the only March M1/C built and was raced in IMSA GTP\, with David Hobbs doing the driving.\n\nThe evening will feature heavy appetizers with water and soft drinks. A full bar will be available for purchase of alcohol drinks. You can sit at tables or stand at bistro tables as well. Casual business attire is recommended. \nSchedule: \n\n6:00 PM Doors open\n6:15 PM Soft drinks and appetizers served; bar is open\n7:00 PM Program starts\n8:30 PM Program finishes\n9:00 PM Event ends\n\nRegistration will be handled by the Puget Sound Chapter.
