Wine Country Tour
May 6 @ 10:30 am - 3:00 pm| $18
Back by popular demand, we’re shifting this year’s Wine Country Tour south from the hilly Chehalem region to the gorgeous rolling countryside in the Dundee / Amity / McMinnville triad. The longest route on a Wine Country Tour to date, we’ll traverse through picturesque farmland and rolling hills promises smooth asphalt, fast sweepers, and long, open straights.
We will begin our tour at Durant Vineyards in the Dundee Hills a.v.a region. We loved this place last year, with its magnificent valley views and casual outdoor feel. Meet around 10:30 (address below). Around noon we’ll head south through the countryside to Bryn Mawr Vineyards in the Eola-Amity Hills a.v.a. This small winery crafts their wines with love and attention to detail, and has an intimate, family home feel.
After these two amazing wine stops we will head to Youngberg Hill Vineyards and Inn, part of the McMinnville a.v.a. Added to the fast sweepers and panoramic views are the odd and strangely satisfying right and left doglegs that avoided farmers’ barns, ponds, and cows in days gone by. The stunning scenery provides a perfect backdrop for the now-traditional epic photo shoot, complete with staging by numerous “directors”. Upon arrival, look for the staging area, and back your car into the lineup. We’ll then enjoy a catered sandwich picnic provided by The Red Fox in McMinnville. Several choices will be available.
The cost is $18 per person and includes the picnic and soft drinks. Wine tasting at all venues is optional and pay-as-you-go. Two people may share tastings. The tour is self-guided, and directions will be provided. Typically small groups form and run together, but there is no requirement to stay together. You can leave and meet back up with the tour at any time.
